For my last birthday, I got a very nice surprise - a masticating juicer!
Since then, I have been drinking freshly pressed juices, especially carrot juice and green juices more often. What a difference it makes.
One day I was thinking back to my childhood eating habits. Although my parents were into health and fed the family with a relatively healthy vegetarian diet, I had a sweet tooth and a thing for salty snacks.
It started with samples from friends who were generous enough to share the treats fron their lunch boxes at school. Later on, when I had a few coins to spend, I happily exchanged them for junk food.
That is how I freely, supplemented my parents provisions with chips, soda pop, candies, chocolate, and the like.
As I remembered, and thought about some of the treats I had enjoyed, I began to wonder, "How much junk food have I eaten over the years?"
Happy New Year!!! I hope you have a lovely, blessed, healthy, and productive year! Time goes fast, so let's make the best of it. =)
I'm starting this year with a cleanse - a fast for my mind. Should I call it a mental fast?
That is the question...
And, fortunately, the answer is simple.
As it turns out, the truth about whether grains should be in the diet of humans or not has been there all along...
An update on my personal challenge to eat less.
I have discovered that the key to eating less, is chewing more. This month I have been making a strong effort to eat less. I have been setting out my food before hand and not taking any seconds. It has been a good experience so far. I have been also working on taking my time and chewing more.
The more I chew, the more I get from my food, and the less volume my body seems to require.
A few months ago, a friend told me she has been suffering terribly from indigestion. She was hoping I would have some suggestions for her.
I myself have suffered from digestive problems pretty much my whole life. Chronic indigestion has been part of the issue for years.
This savory salad is one of many possible delicious, child-friendly ways to enjoy your lentil (or mung bean) sprouts pnce you've grown them. My little niece and nephew love this dish!
We've been eating a lot of sprouted legumes around here lately. They are super delicious and we can't seem to get enough of them.
Growing sprouts is simple and easy and saves our family lots of money....
Making it a Daily Habit
During a lunch gathering some years ago, a new friend left a lasting impression on me.
After asking for God's blessing on the meal we all served ourselves from the variety of appetizing dishes before us...
Over the years, I have begun to realize more and more that I don't need as much food as I once thought I needed. Instead, I thrive on less.
That realization is what prompted me first to stop snacking and later to start eating just two meals a day. The two meal plan made a significant difference in my digestion.
Late large suppers and a family rule to "eat everything on the plate" have left me with an unfortunate tendency to overeat. That signal that tells me I've had enough was broken down for a long time.
Follow my journey as I return to the original plan for living and eating...
