One day I was thinking back to my childhood eating habits. Although my parents were into health and fed the family with a relatively healthy vegetarian diet, I had a sweet tooth and a thing for salty snacks.
It started with samples from friends who were generous enough to share the treats fron their lunch boxes at school. Later on, when I had a few coins to spend, I happily exchanged them for junk food.
That is how I freely, supplemented my parents provisions with chips, soda pop, candies, chocolate, and the like.
As I remembered, and thought about some of the treats I had enjoyed, I began to wonder, "How much junk food have I eaten over the years?"
Opening a fresh note page in my phone, I started making a list...a junk food inventory of chips, candies, cookies, ice cream, cake, pie, and more!
The list grew and grew, and grew until I ran out of space! And that was with me giving only one line for each item I had ever eaten. Nevermind the fact that many items on that list were a regular part of my junk food supplementation. Some, I ate by the bag!
I am horrified at how long the list is. Did I really eat that much junk?
How quickly small things can add up into large things! A few sweets here, and a handful of chips there. And over time, the results show up.
No wonder, about a lot of things....
Now I can see that there is a real cause to the health issues I've suffered from. Our bodies are made up from the food we eat. I put in a lot of junk over the years and guess what? Junk is still coming out!
I am so thankful I heard about raw food. It's nourishing my body and I no longer crave sugar laden "treats" or salty snacks. I've already eaten enough of that junk to last a few life times, so no more for me.
I am more motivated than ever to feed my body with only the purest, healthiest foods I can find. That is, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, nuts, seeds, and grains, as grown. Unchanged by human hands.
